IDS Sports Dietary Supplements for Liver Injury Risks

by Administrator 8. December 2009 16:17

The Food and Drug Administration said that IDS Sports Supplements are being recalled because they contain steriods not listed on the labeling. These steriods can cause liver injury and other serious health problems.

While there are no reports of illness in people taking the recalled substances, the use of steriods has been linked to steroid use.

More than a dozen brands of Hydroxycut brand dietary substances were recalled in May 2009 after reports of liver damages. At least one user of the product died as a result of liver failure officials said.

The Warning Signs of a Heart Attack

by Administrator 1. December 2009 15:54

One of the reasons Hydroxycut was pulled from the market is that the dietary supplement was linked to heart disease.  Heart disease is the single largest killer in America, accounting for over 800,000 deaths a year.  There are also over 1,260,000 heart attacks a year in the United States.  Recognizing the signs may be the biggest key to saving your life:

  • Chest pain is the most common symptom of a heart attack.  It can manifest itself as a tingling, tight, or a squeezing sensation.  Sometimes this feels similar to heartburn.
  • Numbness or tingling in the left arm is another common sign.
  • General feelings of nausea, weakness, vomiting, and light-headedness are also common.

Soldier Serving in Iraq Suffers Liver Failure Due to Hydroxycut

by Administrator 23. November 2009 15:57

A suit has been filed in New Jersey by a US soldier who suffered liver failure in the United States following his use of Hydroxycut.  According to the terms of the suit, the man was taking Hydroxycut to help keep himself fit and aware during patrols.  However, extended use of the supplement, which is not FDA-approved, caused him to suffer life-threatening liver failure.

Hydroxycut is quite common amongst US soldiers, who have to keep fit and in shape while in Iraq.  While the efficacy of the product has been frequently called into question, it is still frequently used by American servicemen and women.

The Importance of Exercise

by Administrator 20. November 2009 17:21

Iovate Health Sciences and other producers of dietary supplements sold millions of products on the promise that they would make losing weight quicker and easier.  But the truth is that there is no magic bullet for weight loss.  To safely lose weight, a healthy diet has to be paired with a responsible exercise plan.  Prolonged cardiovascular exercise can help burn calories.  Activities like running, jogging, biking, swimming, and rowing are good ways to lose fat.  Remember not to push yourself, as athletic injuries can discourage exercise.

Hydroxycut and Seizures

by Administrator 11. November 2009 15:31

Because of the nature of dietary supplements like Hydroxycut, it's not always clear which of their many ingredients can pose potential problems.  But what has been made clear is that some people who have taken Hydroxycut have suffered serious seizures as a result.  The current evidence suggests that consumers who have experienced seizures relating to Hydroxycut have all been long-term users.  However, even consumers who only took Hydroxycut for a brief period of time may be at risk.

There is no clear understanding of what in Hydroxycut has caused the seizures, but doctors warn that the supplement as a whole is unsafe.

Types of Heart Disease

by Administrator 10. November 2009 15:29

Heart disease is one of the biggest problems facing America.  Diet and other lifestyle factors greatly increase one's chance for developing the disease.  For example, some dietary supplements, such as Hydroxycut, have been linked to developing long-term heart problems.  If you've developed heart problems as a result of taking Hydroxycut, the lawyers at Williams Kherkher would like to help.

The term "heart disease" is actually something of a misnomer, as it really describes several different diseases which affect the heart.  Some of the most common are:

  • Coronary heart disease, the most common type of heart disease.  Plaque builds up in the walls of the blood vessels, raising the danger of a stroke or heart attack.
  • Cardiomyopathy.  In this form of heart disease, the tissue of the heart degenerates over time.
  • Cardiovascular disease.  In this form, the body's blood vessels deteriorate, specifically those around the heart.
