Sabinsa Corporation, a company that distributes botanical extracts, has performed a study on Garcina cambogia, one of the active ingredients in Hydroxycut. While Sabinsa's Garcinia cambogia extract does not occur in Hydroxycut, the company brought it upon themselves to test the ingredient's safety.

The company found that there was no evidence to link Garcinia cambogia fruit rind extract to heptotoxicity. While this product may not cause liver damage, something in Hydroxycut does. It is still unknown which Hydroxycut ingredient causes liver failure and seizures among other medical problems.
