More bad news for Hydroxycut users - only days after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) advised consumers to stop taking Hydroxycut weight loss and energy enhancement supplements immediately, Health Canada has launched its own investigation into the potentially deadly health effects of Hydroxycut products.
Health Canada has received at least 17 reports of adverse side effects in people taking Hydroxycut products. While the FDA issued a recall of Hydroxycut products based primarily on reports of liver damage and at least one death due to liver failure, Health Canada has received reports of adverse effects on the neurological, gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, and respiratory systems. In other words, the possibility of liver damage may not be the only thing wrong with Hydroxycut.
Health Canada is currently working with the U.S. FDA to determine which ingredient(s) is/are responsible for causing injury to Hydroxycut users.
Hydroxycut is not explicitly authorized for sale in Canada; however, Iovate (the maker of Hydroxycut) is recalling at least 11 of its products that are sold in Canada.
a law firm is actively monitoring the Hydroxycut recall and is investigating the possibility of legal action on behalf of injured consumers.
